What made you want to be a tattoo artist or when did you decide?

I have been obsessed with drawing ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I had contemplated becoming a tattoo artist several times throughout my life, but it wasn’t until the pandemic started that I decided. The shutdown caused me to lose the job I was in and left me with all the free time in the world to develop a portfolio.

What’s your background? How did you get started?

I graduated college with a degree in graphic design and spent a few years after working in that field. Nothing will humble you quite like having your work picked apart pixel by pixel. It was a soul-sucking experience that left me yearning for something more fulfilling.

After I completed my apprentice portfolio I went all around searching for shops/schools to take me in. It was a strange time during the pandemic, but eventually I made it into Skin City in Tigard. I apprenticed there for a year and a half.

What styles do you specialize in or prefer to work on?

I prefer to work roughly within the style of American Traditional, but find inspiration from Japanese Traditional. I am also a huge nerd and love all things gaming/anime related.

What are your tattoo goals? What kind of pieces do you love working on? What would you love to do more of?

My goal for now is to gain as much experience as I can and develop my skills to the fullest extent. I love working on pieces that challenge me and push me to learn. I would love to do more large scale work (chest, stomach, thighs, back).

Are there any tattoo requests you turn down?

I will not tattoo a symbol of hate, gang affiliations, or the name of your partner that you met two weeks ago. I am very selective on fine line and realism pieces.

How do you work with your clients?

I am a very easy going person to work with. I prefer to get things started through email and if a consultation is appropriate, we’ll get that scheduled. It’s my goal to break those awful stereotypes of tattoo shops. When you’re with me, you will be treated with kindness and respect. I will never turn someone away due to their skin color, sexuality, identity, or body size.

Who’s your ideal client?

I find all of my clients ideal as long as they are kind and respectful. 🙂

Do you have any advice for the first-timer?

Start small! It’s a good way to learn the process and ease yourself into the pain. I also highly recommend eating beforehand. If you are nervous about anything I will more than happily explain the process in person!

What’s your favorite Local destination?

I’m big on food, that’s what I spend all of my money on haha. I am a big fan of ¿Por Que No? Taqueria.
